The Truth of "We Were Liars"
If you want a book that is constantly boring until the final pages, or a book where there are too many characters to remember, then this is the book for you! We Were Liars had potential but in the end disappointed me. The plot was too complicated and the big reveal at the very end left me confused and not wanting more. While trying to create a detailed story, the characters were too developed. After page 15 the book turned into more of a memoir rather than extending the suspension that the first few pages had provided. The main character Cadence often had hallucinations that confused the reader leaving them to wonder when the hallucinations stopped and the real book started. This book did take me on a roller coaster of emotions as I went from intrigued to bored, to disappointed and then back to bored. The author failed to make a book that was relatable to anyone and tried too hard to make the book interesting. Overall I would give the book 2 stars out of five and I would not recommen
